Transition to the CIBD on 1st of January 2025

We are ready to officially transition to becoming the Chartered Institute of Brewers and Distillers (CIBD) on 1st January 2025!

In line with the resolutions passed at the AGM in September, now that the transfer has completed CIBD is the sole legal member of IBD. All individual memberships of IBD ceased on the transfer date with the memberships having transferred to CIBD. Going forward all membership engagement will be with CIBD. If any decisions need to made for IBD by its members, that decision will be made by CIBD a sole member.

New Website

Our new website (www.cibd.org.uk) will be going live on 1st January 2025 with our new brand logo. With CIBD, we are building on our legacy of the last 138 years and refining our products and services to better suit your needs and the needs of the industry.

What does it mean for you: If you type in our current web address (www.ibd.org.uk), you will automatically be redirected to www.cibd.org.uk. Please rest assured that this is the authentic CIBD website and we have tried to keep the user experience similar to our current website.

Additionally, as we move our database across to the new website, you will not be able to log in to your account on the website from 1st  January 2025 - 5th January 2025, and you will not be able to make any purchases or watch member-only content for the 5 days. We will get in touch with you on 6th January after the final testing and as soon as we have the customer login live again. If you want to make any online bookings  for any of our qualifications for the March 2025 exams, please do so before 1st January

Our corporate booking system will stay active during this time. Please email Corporatebookings@ibd.org.uk if you want to make an enquiry or a booking for your team.

New Identity, New Emails

With our name change to the CIBD, our emails will also transition to becoming cibd.org.uk. Don’t worry, you do not have to start remembering our new email addresses, as we will continue to receive your emails even if they are addressed to ibd.org.uk email accounts. However, our responses to your emails will come from our new emails. This also applies to any queries sent to customer care or examinations. In addition to this, if you receive our newsletters and emails, from 1st January 2025, they will come from our cibd.org.uk email.

Membership Category

Use of MCIBD post-nominals from 1st January 2025: As you already know, Chartership gives us the huge opportunity to reflect the high standard that our members maintain in their professional life. From 1st January members can use the MCIBD post-nominals and Fellows can use the FCIBD and Hon FCIBD post nominals. Please start using the post-nominals on your social media profile, email signatures and wherever else you deem fit, and don't forget to tag us when you do this.

You can find the key details about your membership and the key difference that will come into effect on 1st January 2025 on the CIBD Membership Categories page.

On the back-end, the team is busy transitioning the existing membership database to the new membership categories and we will complete this process on the 3rd January 2025.

We are changing our social media profiles to the CIBD brand identity and name on 2nd January 2025. If you follow us, you will see the new identity on Facebook, Instagram, X (previously known as Twitter) and LinkedIn. If not, follow us now to stay updated with the latest.
