A New Era: From the IBD to the CIBD
This year’s Presidential Dinner marked a significant milestone, as we transition to become the Chartered Institute of Brewers and Distillers beginning in January 2025.
Your view and your vote will shape the future of the IBD. Take part in the decision-making of the Institute, your Institute.
There are many reasons why professionals in the drinks industry join the IBD as members. Some of you stay with us during the preparation and obtainment of the technical qualifications. Some others with the aim of building up networks and being informed through the Brewer and Distiller International (BDI) magazine about what is going on in the industry or to keep learning in our CPD events, again a great way to expand your professional network.
These are all excellent reasons to be part of the Institute and we treasure every single one of our members as you are the core of the IBD and the reason why the Institute has maintained its reputation as an organisation since 1886.
The IBD goes beyond our name and logo. Our members, with their high technical knowledge, are the best representation of what we do and help us establish strong relationships with big and small businesses across continents. It’s a privilege to see how senior members give back to the industry and guide selflessly new generations to succeed in their careers and deliver the maximum value for their organisations
It is our aim to engage with our members at all levels, helping you to assist us when you are ready as part of our Education and Professional Development Team, our Board of Trustees and our Executive Team. We are all active members, and we would like you to participate actively too.
That’s the reason we are inviting you to take part in our Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 20th September from 10:15 BST (09:15 UTC). To facilitate your participation, you have the chance of voting by proxy if you are unable to join us on the day.
The Resolutions, supporting documents and how to register to attend the AGM or vote by proxy are on this page.
Be an active member. Your view and your vote will shape the future of the IBD. Take part in the decision-making of the Institute, your Institute. Look forward to seeing you at the AGM.
IBD Chief Executive Officer
This year’s Presidential Dinner marked a significant milestone, as we transition to become the Chartered Institute of Brewers and Distillers beginning in January 2025.
We thank all our members who took part in this significant moment for our community by voting. The AGMs was an opportunity for our members to understand the key changes at the IBD as we finalise our transition to the CIBD.
When considering a career in the beverage industry, many of us were enticed in by the waft of sweetness from a freshly made mash, the heady scent of the angels’ share or the feeling of pride at seeing our perfectly dressed bottle on a supermarket fixture.
