A New Era: From the IBD to the CIBD
This year’s Presidential Dinner marked a significant milestone, as we transition to become the Chartered Institute of Brewers and Distillers beginning in January 2025.
A tribute to our beloved Queen
The world has lost an exceptional statesperson who led her people with extraordinary commitment, integrity and dignity.
It is with great sadness that we, at the Institute of Brewing & Distilling (IBD), have received the news of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. May she rest in peace. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Royal Family at this difficult time.
We pay tribute to a remarkable leader who personified the ideal of constant learning. She navigated her life and led her people with extraordinary dedication through some of the most difficult global and local challenges.
A steadfast presence on the throne over the past 70 years, Her Majesty has been a beacon of unity, hope and pride for generations across the world.
It is our aim to live by her inspirational stance to contribute to the better world she envisioned for us:
“I know of no single formula for success. But over the years I have observed that some attributes of leadership are universal and are often about finding ways of encouraging people to combine their efforts, their talents, their insights, their enthusiasm and their inspiration to work together”.

We thank all our members who took part in this significant moment for our community by voting. The AGMs was an opportunity for our members to understand the key changes at the IBD as we finalise our transition to the CIBD.
When considering a career in the beverage industry, many of us were enticed in by the waft of sweetness from a freshly made mash, the heady scent of the angels’ share or the feeling of pride at seeing our perfectly dressed bottle on a supermarket fixture.
