Legends of the Hop Industry

The APAC Section is excited to invite members and guests to our latest event in Victoria! Join the meeting to hear from two legends of the hop industry, Allan and Gail Monshing, who are retiring after harvest. There will be an introduction by Kevin Te Wierek from Moondog and a presentation by Phil Rutjens from HPA on the 2023 Crop. 

Speakers:

• Kevin Te Wierek, Director of Brewery Operations, Moon Dog Craft Brewery
  • Kevin has over ten years experience in the brewing industry as a Brewery Manager at both CUBs Cascade and Abbotsford Breweries and currently is the Director of Brewery Operations at Moondog for the past three years. Kevin holds the IBD Master Brewer as well as the ABInBev Global Masterbrewer.
• Phil Rutjens, Victorian Sales Representative, Hop Products Australia
  • Phil loves the creative side of brewing, and is always eager to get new hops into the hands of brewers. He has more than 15 years experience in the craft beer industry, from Brewery Operations Manager at Urban Alley Brewery to Brewery Manager at Southern Bay Brewery. Phil has experience in optimising the brewing and packaging process, coordinating and forecasting stock requirements, and maintaining internal and external industry relationships.
• Allan and Gail Monshing, Retiring Farm Manager and Farm Administrator, Hop Products Australia
  
  • The 2023 hop harvest marks the end of an era as HPA Manager Allan Monshing is retiring alongside his wife Gail. The Victorian power couple have been integral to the success of the HPA farming operations and hop breeding program over 50 years. We would like to join together and thank them and hear about their experiences.
