Exciting news - we have an exclusive event just for IBD members!

Join the IBD Scottish section for a 3-day tour of Speyside whiskies. We will meet in Glasgow to kick off the 3 day tour.

Join us for this exclusive technical tour of several distilleries to share knowledge and expertise. Delve into different maturation methods, see coppersmiths creating stills and spirit safes, and examine various coopering processes.

The ticket cost inlcludes all site visits, tastings, two breakfasts, three lunches, two evening meals, 2 nights hotel accommodation in Fochabers, round-trip coach transport with pick-up and drop-off point in Glasgow city centre. All hotel rooms are twin occupancy – same sex only. Upgrades to single occupancy rooms may be available for a surcharge but this is extremely limited.

This event is perfect for anyone working in the distilling industry or anyone with a keen interest in Speyside whisky production.

Schedule:

• Meet in Glasgow.
• Cairn Distillery – Explore this new and modern distillery which pushes the boundaries of traditional Scotch.
• Enjoy lunch consisting of Scottish tapas and a tasting in The Gathering Bistro at the Cairn.
• Glenfarclas Distillery – Go behind the scenes in this traditional, family-owned distillery during silent season with plenty of opportunities to ask questions.
• Macallan Distillery – Enjoy a tour of one of the world’s most well-known, yet exclusive distilleries and learn all about their production including their 36 stills.
• Enjoy a locally-sourced 3 course meal in The Elchies Brasserie at The Macallan (wine excluded).
• Forsyths Coppersmiths – A rare opportunity to see some of the skilled Coppersmiths hand-hammering sheets of copper in their workshops. They combine traditional, manual methods along with newer machinery to produce beautifully shaped distilling equipment - their work is highly regarded worldwide.
• Glentauchers Distillery – Go behind closed doors at Chivas’ only fully manually operated distillery which is a great site for learning.
• Speyside Cooperage – Watch as the Coopers use their expertise and traditional tools to make and repair casks against the clock.
• Balvenie Distillery – Tour this traditional distillery which even boasts it’s own in-house maltings and cooperage.
• 2 – 3 other distilleries TBC.
