Join the IBD Midland Section in this educational seminar and tour to the Charles Faram site.
Learn with a panel of experts how to select the best hops to produce the most excellent beer and expand your knowledge and expertise about hop purchasing and usage decisions.
This seminar organised in partnership with Charles Faram would be particularly beneficial for those candidates taking any of the IBD brewing qualifications and it is open to all IBD members at any stage of their career who want to learn more about hops and raw materials.
There is a maximum of 50 places available which will be allocated on the first-come first served basic. Book in advance to avoid disappointment.

The Speakers
- Paul Corbett - Managing Director, Charles Faram - Team member since 1989
Paul joined Charles Faram in July 1989. At that time there were only two other people working at Faram’s, so Paul found himself taking on most roles from Accounts to forklift operator!
He became Managing Director in 1996 and has been responsible for the development of the company during this time.
Whilst in his current role Paul has also served as follows:
-Trustee for SIBA from 1997-2001
-Chairman of the BFBi Midland Section 1999
-BFBi National Chairman in 2009-2011
He is currently:
-Chairman of the IBD Hop Industry Committee
-Chairman of the Hop Merchants Association
-A Director of BTS (who run the International Brewing Awards).
He enjoys visiting farms, drinking beer in pubs and watching rugby in his spare time.
- Will Rogers - Group Technical Director, Charles Faram - Team member since 2008
Will Rogers is in charge of technical improvements across the business and he has a skill set that is perfectly matched to achieve this.
He manages hop purchasing across the group, the Hop Development Programme worldwide, and advises growers regarding their obligation to meet our standards and legal obligations.
- Ben Adams - International Sales Manager and brewer, Charles Faram - Team member since 2014
Ben started brewing in 2004 and spent a decade in the industry before joining Charles Faram in 2014 as a Technical Sales Advisor, helping brewers across the UK with recipe development, technical brewing advice and troubleshooting.
He transferred to Charles Faram Canada in 2019 as General Manager before returning to the UK in 2021 where he currently enjoys his role as Sales Manager for Asia, Australasia and the Americas.

How to Get to Charles Faram Site
Driving From the M5 • 6.5 miles from Junction 7 • 14.8 miles from Junction 8 From the North • Pass the Halfway House on the left and then a layby on the right • Turn right into Monksfield Lane • Continue for almost half a mile • When the road forks follow it to the right (signposted) From the South • After the layby on the left turn left into Monksfield Lane • Continue for almost half a mile • When the road forks follow it to the right (signposted)
Taxis and own vehicles • We kindly ask you to respect our neighbours and the speed limits • When you arrive at our site, please follow the signs to turn left whether being dropped off or parking. It’s a strict one way system. • You can park in the car park or follow the road round to the overspill at the front of the building along the embankment. • Please don’t park in any numbered bays are these are for customer order collections. • Yellow hi-vis jackets or vests should be worn on site with the exception of designated walkways to reception from the carpark. Getting from the car parks to the reception door is straight forward. Just be aware of traffic. • Please sanitise and sign in at reception.

Useful Information
Clothes will get coated in hops and hop oil.
COVID precautions
Please take a lateral flow test the day before you come to the pub tour and/or office and only attend if you test negative. We absolutely don’t think it’s necessary to ask you for proof, so there is no need to bring the test with you. If restrictions change, or if there is a requirement for us to cancel for COVID related reasons we will let you know ASAP.
