Senior Members of the Great Northern Section are invited to a special brew day hosted by Paul Spencer, Head Brewer at Riverhead Brewery Tap in Marsden.

Join us for a fun and social day as we craft a beer that will be featured at our section’s dinner in Liverpool this October.

We’ll kick off mashing in at 8:30am, with the day wrapping up around 2pm, followed by a chance to enjoy the brewery’s fine selection of beers.

This free event offers a fantastic opportunity to get hands-on with brewing on newly installed equipment in a superb setting. Local lunch options are available to suit your taste. Don’t miss out on this exciting brewing experience!

Riverhead Brewery was founded in the cellar of the Riverhead Brewery Tap in 1995, originally using a 2bbl brewery to supply the pub and occasional free trade outlets. 

Passing into the ownership of Ossett Brewery in 2006, the pub and brewery both underwent a much needed refurbishment in February 2024, during which a new (second hand) 5bbl brewery was installed, the hot side of which can be seen in the bar area.

Paul Spencer has been with Ossett Brewery since 2001, during which time under the ownership of Jamie Lawson the company has grown from a small microbrewery behind a pub, into a regional with an annual capacity of nearly 100,000hl across four production sites, thirty three retail outlets and includes the Ossett, Salt, Rat and Riverhead brands. 

Until recently, Paul was Head Brewer at the Ossett site, but has recently moved into a new role overseeing and developing the brewpubs.
