The Midland Section invites candidates taking the IBD Diploma in Brewing and General Certificate in Brewing qualifications to a Brewers Training Day complementary to their studies.

Led by experienced industry professionals, participants will have an opportunity to visit the Process Research Brewery in the morning and attend a Brewing Calculations tutorial in the afternoon.

The brewery is a 10 hl scale and will allow attendees to explore and contrast:

  1. Options for wort production
    • milling/mashing/wort separation systems
    • wort boiling/hot wort clarification
    • late hopping techniques
  2. Options for fermentation and cellar operations
    • Dried/wet yeast
    • Propagation
    • Yeast management
    • Fermentation control
    • Dry hopping techniques
    • Centrifugation/Filtration

Please wear safety shoes.

Schedule:

  • Arrive for a prompt 10:00 am start in the Process Research Brewery.
  • 13.00 Lunch. There is a café/shop providing sandwiches/snacks at lunch time.
  • 14:00 lecture theatre tutorial
