Renaldo Fourie - Diploma in Distilling Module 1 Tutor

Renaldo has a profound enthusiasm for all things distilled and brings a 360-degree knowledge of the whole distilling process to share with a new generation of professionals. 

With a career spanning more than a decade, Renaldo began in the wine industry at Nederburg Wines as a harvest intern. Renaldo later joined Gentleman Spirits (Triple Three Distillery) as a Managing Assistant responsible for the complete cycle of distilling operations.

Renaldo joined Distell for four years as Distillation Technologist and then moved on to the role of Head Distiller at Poetic License Distillery, at which he has been responsible for starting this new distillery in South Africa, including its construction. He was involved in new product development, distilling and all production operations. In his current role as Master Distiller for DGB(Pty) Ltd, Renaldo is responsible for all spirits production under their various brands.

Renaldo holds a BSc Agric Oenology (Specialized) from Stellenbosch University in South Africa, and as an IBD Member since 2016 has achieved his IBD Diploma in Distilling, General Certificate in Brewing (Craft), and Master Distiller Qualifications.

Renaldo also acted as content author for the IBD. We are thrilled to have Renaldo share his knowledge, experience and energy with our Diploma in Distilling candidates as one of our TGL Tutors.

Currently living in Paarl South Africa, Renaldo also enjoys spending time with his family, camping, kayaking, hiking, fishing and everything the great outdoors has to offer with his wife and daughter.
