Estelle Cubbin - Diploma in Brewing Module 3 Tutor

Estelle is one of our most multifaceted tutors. With two decades in the brewing industry, she also has experience in the paper and cheese production industries, demonstrating her broad expertise and boundless curiosity. 

After a few years in the paper industry, and a short stint in the cheese industry, Estelle was drawn to brewing. Estelle began her career in brewing in 1998 at SAB as a process operator at the Newlands Brewery in South Africa, after which she worked in various roles in process engineering and line management.

In 2008 she moved to SAB Capital Projects where she was involved in a number of projects including a major expansion at Rosslyn Brewery and the construction of a green fields Maltings Plant at Alrode for SAB Maltings. In 2015 she joined SABMiller Africa as a Process Engineering Consultant .

Estelle holds a B Eng (Chemical Engineering) from the University of Stellenbosch (1993) and a MBA from the University of Cape Town (2003). In 2000 she complete the IBD Diploma with distinction. She left SABMiller in 2017 to take an extended break and spend her time setting up a subsistence farm and retreat centre in the Garden Route in South Africa. Estelle currently consults to the brewing industry and is the author of several lessons for the Diploma in Brewing Module 3.

In her spare time enjoys cycling, woodworking and brewing awesome beer. She can thus safely say she has experience in all sizes of breweries and brings this experience to her role as a TGL tutor.
