What will I learn?

This qualification will give the non-technical learner a solid understanding of the whole production process. From the basics of a spirit's raw ingredients and how these are fermented, distilled, maturated and then packaged in to the final product.

This course is presented as a series of lectures, held in the first quarter of each year, and for 4 days. During the course you will have lectures from specialist IBD accredited trainers, work in groups and work over previous exam questions. Great opportunity to network with counterparts from all over the UK and the rest of the world.

What can I go on to study?

The Foundation in Distilling is a standalone course designed for those in non-technical roles who need to understand more about beer production. It also provides a solid base on which to build your knowledge of alcoholic beverage production. You may wish to learn more about the production of beer with our Foundations of Brewing & Packaging course or about tasting and appreciation in our Beer and Cider Academy.
